I can not open the doors on my 2000 Mercury Cougar. Mad The key wont work, the electronic locks wont work and it wont open even from the inside. I have tried using the manual locks, but they are stuck in the locked position. You can move the lock, but it slaps back into the lock position. Also the button on the inside to pop open the hatch will not work now. And the last thing I have noticed that is different with the car now since the doors wont open is the alarm light. The light used to stay off except when the car was off and locked up, it would blink steadily. Now the light is on at all times. I have checked the fuses under the hood of the car, but they were not blown. The only way I am able to enter the car is by using the key to open the hatch and crawl in to the car though the back. Then I am able to put the windows down and drive the car. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I do not know if this will help, however.. I had a 2001 Caddy that did the same thing to me. What I found out was that my auto-key.. which is the remote on
my keys that automatically lock and unlock the doors malfunctioned... not only did I have to crawl through the trunk to get into my car... the alarms would go off at random while driving down the street!!!! I had to have my remote fixed.. once
they fixed it.. everything was fine.. nothing was jammed.. do you have a remote??

No I have never had a remote. Do you think if I got one, it could unlock the doors? Now I have been told by the Ford dealership that all of my electrical wiring is messed up and it is going to be a costly fix. It just seems it should be something simple, not the whole wiring. Unsure
