02 cavalier abs problems

i have a 2.2L 4 cyl 2002 cavalier. the abs and traction control lights have been on since i bought the car last year in june. the mechanic that safetied it said it was the front left abs sensor, so my dad replaced it (hes a mechanic). the lights never went off and the abs never worked either, or i just didnt use it. anyway, about a month ago i noticed that when i would turn right my abs would come on, buut both pedals would vibrate. i mostly notice it when i drive it after its been sitting for an hour or so, and now it comes on if i barely press the brake pedal, turning or not, and stays on even after i take my foot off the brake for a while. it only does it a couple times, and quits doing it after i stop a couple of times most of the time. sometimes it just keeps doing it every time i stop until i get to where i wanna go and turn it off. anyone know what this might be? the car has about 230000km on it. i had a different mechanic tell me that its my brakes and rotors but when i had different rims put on in july 2010 i had my dad check the brakes and they were still very good. could it be? im short on cash right now so i dont have the money to take it to the mechanic. any help is appreciated

Im not sure about 2002 but i know in newer chevy models the abs sensor is encased inside the wheel hub and maybe its pinching the abs while your turning right, just a guess.
