I have tried leaving PB blaster on it, tapping it with a hammer, all manner of wrenches which just stripped the plug anyway. I ended up hammering on a 14mm socket which grabs better than anything else but i still can't get the plug off (The original size of the plug was 5/8in if that tells you anything). I know ill need to replace the plug once I'm done I don't have a whole lot of room to work with under the car since I only have a scissor jack that came with the car, and no breaker bar either. I'm still trying to find a steel pipe or at least something sturdy to use in place of a bar. The only thing i haven't tried yet is a torch. Does anyone have any other advice for getting the stubborn thing off? Like it says in the subject, it's an 06 Chevy Impala 3.9L V6 with about 154K miles. And it's long overdue for a change too. No, they haven't used domestic sizes in over 20 years. What you had is a 15mm and that's why you rounded it with a 5/8 wrench. If you don't have the plug out yet, this is a good time to go straight to a reputable shop to let them resolve it before you do more damage. Easy with those emergency sissor jacks really meant for just changing a flat tire. Get a real jack and good jack stands. Getting crushed, hurt or killed isn't worth the price of having at least safe jack and stands!
