07 impala wipers quit	Sign In

2007 Chevy Impala 3.9 liter V6 with 125,000 miles. Wipers suddenly quit. Sounded like something "snapped". I can hear the motor running but I cannot see the motor inside the engine compartment. Where is the wiper motor and assembly? How do I get to it? Are the wipers driven by a belt? I don't think anything is wrong with the motor, I think it's the "connection" between the motor and the wipers, but I can't see where it is. Help!

its probrably your wiper transmission under the wipers there is a cowling u have to remove and there are 3 rods that connect to both wipers and one to the motor itself. the one that goes to the motor probrably broke or popped off so u have to get the whole new transmission because if u take it apart and pop it back together odds are it will pop back off as soon as u turn them on again

Thanks! You were right on the money. Once I figured out how to get to the transmission assembly by taking off the wipers and removing the "grill" that houses the windshield washers, I found that one of the nylon gromets on one of the transmission rods was busted. It's a $300 repair at the dealership because you have to purchase the entire transmission assembly, but my husband found the single rod piece at a junk yard for $10. He had to remove the entire transmission assembly to replace the rod so it took about 45 minutes, but we saved $290!
