1973
Pontiac
Ventura
1972 Chevy 350/5.7 l

Okay there was a clunking noise in the front suspension. I replaced all of the front end bushings, the shocks, and the upper and lower ball joints.
Now when you're driving the vehicle, and you push the throttle the front and feels sloppy, and a little loose. I have checked all the nuts and bolts, lug nuts and everything is tight.

Help!! How do i fix this problem?

Thank you Bigmatt

the clunking noise is gone after replacing all of the front end bushings, the shocks, and the upper and lower ball joints.
The problem I'm having is that of front end raises when you hit the throttle which makes steering a little squirrelly, it feels like there is a lot of play in the steering.

A 350 in a nova body, hummm, maybe the front end is coming off the ground when you nail it? Kidding. Check the engine mounts.

Have you had an alignment done after replacing all these front end parts?

Is the frt end raising or is it the back end squatting? If you have air shocks back there, pump em up a tad & see if that makes a difference.......

Have you done anything with the sway bar or bushings? Sounds like it's traction related. How about the rear axle control arms? They have bushings that wear.

Re: 1973 on a Ventura front end sloppy Sign In

All of the above. Rear can make steering funky feeling and especially with that engine in that body which as I recall used sub frames not attached front to rear and were mounted at chassis cars would be with body bushings/donuts that held body in reference to frame mounted parts which are the engine, front end parts not connected to rear sub-frame and its parts.

Folks used to have "L" frames added to maintain integrity of front to rear, especially if subject to rough use, racing or even if rust was/is becoming an issue,
