1984 GMC PU Sign In

I have a 1984 GMC Sierra with a 4.1 Liter straight 6. We just replaced the head and were putting it back together and when I started to hook up the battery there was sizzling and smoke from the area by the brake booster. I realized the key was in the run position after I disconnected the battery. Now all I have is head lights. There is nothing when you turn the key, and I search all over the engine compartment and under the dash for any sign of something burnt. I was hoping there is something like a fusible link or something similar. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A lot of those older Chevys (GMCs) had fusible links off the power cable down at the starter.....

Thanks for the info. The fusible link was on the fire wall. It was burnt. I replaced wire and now it runs great.
