1991 VW Passat Pulls to the Right

Volkswagen
Passat
My daughter just bought 4 new tires which were balanced and she paid for an alignment. When she got on the highway and checked, the car still pulled to the right. What could be causing this?

Lots of things. Did it do that before the alignment?

Is the steering wheel off center or does it actually pull when you take your hand off the wheel..
Alot of times people think the car is pulling when actually the steering wheel was not properly set to center on alignment.
If it's pulling and wheel is not off center AND it wasn't pulling before the tire change I would recommend rotating tires side to side to see if it pulls the other way.

Yes, it did. By the way, she had the tie rods checked and they are OK, if that makes a difference.

Then there is probably still an issue with the alignment that they ignored because it didn't have an adjustment. If you have a printout of the finish readings, post it here.

She said the car pulled right before she replaced the tires and had the alignment done. After she had all that done, she was on the highway and she took her hands off the wheel and the car immediately went to the right. Should she have the steering wheel checked to see if it is centered? She is taking the car to the VW dealer to get something else checked. Maybe she should ask them to look at that too? (She's starting to have some qualms about the mechanics she's used for 20 years.)
I don't know if it matters at all, but she had the tie rods checked and they are OK.

Have the whole front end checked, swap tires side to side and re-road test to eleminate tires as the problem. I know they are new, but this needs to be done anyways. If it still pulls to the right you have alignment issues still.
If it was just brought in for alignment then take it back they should be obligated to fix it for you.
