1992 pontiac grand am 3.3L 140,000 miles. I have replaced more parts than the car is worth: fuel filter, catalytic converter, O2 sensor, spark plugs, MAF sensor, fuel pressure regulator, plentum(sp?) gasket, crankshaft sensor, TPS, TBI. The car runs really well, however, when you let off of the accelerator the engine lopes from approximately 50mph down to 30mph. Also, when I start the vehicle and the gear shift is in park the engine will lope at idle if the luminated light is not on indicating it is in park. If I tap on the gear shift box and the light comes on the engine will stop loping and idle smoothly. I have two codes: 27 and 34 (MAF sensor) Any suggestions?

je3333; This sounds like a TCC problem, which will affect fuel delivery and could account for the symptoms you are experiencing. Not being a trans. guy, I'd recommend finding a reputable trans. shop that can diagnose this for you. Check with friends, relatives, enemies, BBB to find a shop that you can trust. Stay away from the 'chain' stores. As far as the idle surge, check coolant level (I know, that sounds rediculous). May want to try cleaning the IAC. Loren SW Washington
