my 1993 chrysler new yorker salon edition is giving me problems. the key isn't engaging the ignition. it turns fully, engaging the electronics so it isn't a fuse issue (i don't think) but isn't doing anything to actually start. I can shift gears but am still a sitting duck. I tried calling a locksmith to come and switch my ignition out but they said it wasn't the issue. my local mechanic said it would be a nearly 200 dollar evaluation before even fixing anything. anyone have any idea what is going on with this?

If the key is turning to all the positions then it isn't a key issue but probably the ignition switch, neutral safety switch - things like that if it won't send power to trigger starter motor. Could be more but doesn't sound like the key itself or lock cylinder itself, T
