The car runs fine when idling, but when you drive it you have to throw it into neutral to keep the engine running otherwise it will die. It starts back up without issue, but it continues to die if you are not in neutral. The second part of this is when you drive it for a period of time, it will not go back into gear without stalling; it's almost like it's seizing up.... I think the two issues are related, but I'm not sure. Please let me know what is the best route to take to remedy this issue.

Is the check engine light on? If so you should get the codes pulled.

Not a whole lot of info to go off of but what come to mind is that the o/d in the converter is stay locked up, those were good for tcc solenoids going bad. When you take off does it seem to "lug" with no power until you get going?

I have seen this a couple of times with GM. Turned out to be the torque converter clutch solenoid. Not saying yours is definitely the problem, but worth looking into.
Tccs shorts out and keeps converter locked up. When you shift into gear, engine stalls with a harsh jerk. My guess is that Sidom hit this nail on the head.

uhmm? im thinking maybe you got a torque converter locking up when its not supose to when your coming to a stop.
does it only whant to stall when you come to a light or to a stop?
while its in gear!

Agree with all of you guys. The TCC can be temporarily disconnected, then test driven to see if problem goes away. Of course, 4th gear (O/D) won't work, and what fuel economy you are seeing will go down the drain at freeway speeds.

It only dies when it is in gear when you slow to a stop or have stopped, and unfortunately I can't see if the engine light is on because the all digital dash is not working either, but that's a different problem. Your description of the lock up is very accurate to the issue. How accessible is the TCC to unplug and test as suggested?

You would have to remove the trans pan to access it. If you could get the codes pulled that should tell you, those will usually set a code. If you have a scanner there is a pid that tells you if it's engage or not.

If you look down to the transmission from the driver's side fender, you'll see the electrical plug. I tried finding a pic for you, but didn't work out. Sorry. Maybe one of the other guys can come up with a pic for you?
