1993 jeep cherokee/01 kia rio questions

got 2 things i have problems with. 1. i just bought a 1993 jeep grand cherokee limited. it needs the speedometer working for inspection. right now when you drive it it flip flops around 0-80 the opposite direction etc. what can i check first. the second is for my sisters car. 01 kia rio. start the car up and cannot take it out of park unless we stick a screwdriver in to release it from park... what can i check here. thanks

You need to start 2 separate questions for the different cars. It will get way too confusing to follow with more than one vehicle.
