I have a 1994 Audi 100 quatro. The timing belt broke and I was looking for info on how to align the crankshaft with the camshafts in order to replace the belt. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks out of time.

Timing Belt Data If the timing belt breaks on a non-interference design, there is enough clearance between the pistons and valves to prevent damaging contact. An interference design does not have sufficient clearance between those parts and engine damage would result from a broken timing belt. N/A indicates no set interval for timing belt replacement. However, it is recommended that the belt still be changed at 60,000 mile intervals. Where different years require different replacement intervals, the lowest interval is provided. Audi Engine Interference (yes/no)Replacement Interval (miles) 1.6 No 60,000 1.7 No 60,000 1.8 (SOHC) No 60,000 1.8 (DOHC) Yes 60,000 2.0 (Gas) No 60,000 2.0 (Diesel) Yes 60,000 2.2 & 2.3 No 60,000 2.7 Yes 60,000 >>2.8 Yes 60,000 3.7 Yes 60,000 4.2 Yes 60,000<< ************************ According to this chart for a 1994 Audi 100 Quattro you have a lot more to worry about than timing marks for a belt! I'd get a full diagnosis to see how much damage was done to see if it's even worth it! T
