. . . with 127,00 miles on it. I have a problem that my mechanic can't seem to solve. I have a check engine light stays on and so does the speedometer won't work when that light comes on. When I have it in park it seems to run faster. I had two days last week that the check engine light did not come on when I started the car and speedometer worked fine and the car seemed to work fine. Also when I am driving, the car wants to shut off. This started several months ago when I was headed out of town and I had to have the car towed and find another ride to the airport. The day before I left, I stopped by the repair shop and they told me to return if it happened again because they could not find anything wrong and shortly after I left his place the light came on again. I drove back and left the car running and they put a machine on and it said my computer had a problem. Last week after further testing they said they couldn't find anything wrong with the computer. Any clue as to what the problem might be? I need a working car.

Sounds as if you may have more than one thing going on. The speedo issue sounds like a VSS problem. This can cause drivabilty issues (trans shifting, fuel delivery, ect). But, it won't cause the engine to die. Did they come up with any trouble codes? If so, post them, and we'll try and get to the bottom of this. Loren SW Washington
