1995 honda passport clutch problems

we have replaced our clutch on our 1995 honda passport and it keeps pulling the wedge collar which clicks on to the throw out bearing out of the pressure plate. is this common?2wd 6cyld

Strange...I guess my reply disappeared........we'll try again.

No that's not normal.....I'm assuming you are talking about the collar that is pressed in the the T/O bearing.....

Is it coming apart when you are trying to reinstall the trans or after the trans is in and you are using the clutch...........

after transmission is in and we are using clutch the ring comes off of the wedge collar therefor the throw out bearing comes unlocked from the pressure plate.

I'm having a hard time picturing this. Once the trans is installed there really isn't (or shouldn't be) enough play for the bearing assembly to come apart. If the bearing is coming off the fork, is may be bent or cracked. I would be taking a close look and that and also double check the parts installed to make sure you got the right ones....



This isn't your exact assembly but the fork is the "Y" piece that holds the T/O bearing....

I really appreciate your help but that is not the part that is coming apart it is on the other side where the t/o bearing attaches to the clutch pressure plate. The clutch is not a push type clutch it pulls on the pressure plate. The t/o bearing locks into a wedge collar which is in the pressure plate that is what keeps pulling out. I hope that makes sense.Mad

The top pic is the pressure plate. Throw-out bearing just to the right, alignment tool, pilot bearing directly below the pressure plate, the clutch disc at the bottom.
Which part are you having an issue with?

Just so we're on the same page. This is an exploded view of a 95 Honda Passport 2wd 3.2 6 cyl.

If the t/o bearing is somehow coming off the fork then there is probably a problem with the fork and it should be inspected very closely, also the mounting & pivot points of the fork....

The slave cyl pushes on the fork to disengage the clutch, I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say "it pulls on the pressure plate"

Loren Champlain SR posted a good photo but it doesn't show details. His photo shows the wedge collar assembly already in the pressure plate. The throw-out brg pushes into the wedge collar assembly that is already centered in the pressure plate. The T-O brg should not be able to pull out once it is in place. This has nothing to do with the T-O brg coming off the release fork. Keep in mind the fork pulls on the T-O brg in this installation.

If someone will tell me how, I'll place a couple photos I took showing it in detail.

After installing a new clutch set, a friend of mine had the throw-out brg pull out of the pressure plate twice and sold his Passport to me, rather than attempt it a 3rd time. I took his new clutch kit off and exchanged it at the same parts store. I'll post my results & findings when I'm done.
