1996 Cavalier Dies in hot weather Sign In

It's happened twice in a year in hot weather. Driving down the road and the engine starts missing and the gauges start jumping then it stops running. It will turn over but will not fire. The first time I called a garage to have the car picked up. By the time they got there is started right up and they couldn't find anything wrong. It happened again in the past few weeks. We sat by the road for half an hour. It finally started and we got home. It ran a little rough but now it's running OK again. All the gauges jumping around makes me think it's something electrical, but what? 2.2L 5 speed manual.

i would for sur check your charging system maybe replace your battery and alt intermitten problems hard to find so if you replace the main things that deal with the volts maybe you not have any more problems

did you ever find out what the problem was? i'm having the same problem. runs great during the winter months, doesn't like summer. nobody seems to know whats wrong. feel like i'm throwing my money away on thing is "could be". help!!!!!

Unless it breaks when they have it in their shop the Chevy dealer can't even fix it! We just use it for short trips in the summer.

sorry, i did post my own new thread. i'm the "hot weather" one you replied to. i was just scrolling through everyone elses problems to see if something looked similiar and how they fix it. didn't mean to "offend". i will follow the rules :)
