I have a 1996 Olds Cutlass Supreme with a whole lot of mileage on it. Despite that, the car runs extremely well, and I have no problems with any fluid levels. All is well except for one thing that has me very concerned. Whenever I am cruising along between 50-60 mph there will be a single, solid, and somewhat loud "clunk" sound. It sounds and feel as if it's coming from under me or under the dash area of the car. It happens only occasionally, even though I am at those speeds twice a day, five times a week as I come and go from work. I hope someone has an idea of what it might be, and if not, I hope someone can tell me if I should take it to an engine repair shop or a transmission repair shop. My budget is painfully small and I need this car to get to work. My thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help me.
