1996 Subaru Legacy - Rack and Pinion Sign In

I took my car into get an alignment as it was pulling to the right a bit, and the maintenance guy said my rack and pinion was leaking power steering fluid and both my boots on the inner tie rods were torn off. The estimate for the rack and pinion w/ the tie rods and boot replacement was just shy of $1000.

I looked up the part on AutoZone and it came it at about $250 (see link below), and it doesn't look to complex to change according to the Haynes manual. Does anyone have any advice on changing this?

In the past I've done basic changes such as breaks, rotors, struts/shocks, and CV axles, so I have some know how, but I would like some advice on complications that may come up.

Thanks,
Chris

As racks go, it's not one of the real hard ones. It calls for about 3 hours to replace it.

Here are the instructions
