1997 Pontiac Transport/Montana fuel gauge

Hey guys so i have a strange issue. My fuel gauge does not work. Ok so first guess would be sending unit in tank. Well there lies my question. on my van the sending unit signal wire is with like 4 other wires and comes off the top of the tank and meets behind the driver seat under the van. There is a 3 plug junction where it is supposed to plug in. As you can see it looks like it was put through the floor instead of the box. <--junct <--- top where it comes out.

It's the purple wire going into the tank. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

So is there a way to use that to get it working or is there a way to reset the gauges?

No, you have to find the faulty component and replace it. You really need a scan tool and some resisters to test it.

What a rig. I wonder how they spliced the wiring for that pass thru connector. Probably twisted the wires together and then taped them. Been a while since I done one, but they sell the pass though connector and the pig tail harnesses. They would corrode from people spilling crap on the carpet or from water leaks. The problem probably lies in that jerry rig they did. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
