1998 Chevy C1500 door lock Sign In

I have a 1998 Chevy C1500 pickup 4.3L 6 cyl...The driver side door doesn't always open from the interior. Do you know what the issue is and what I need to do to fix it?

Also, would it be difficult to install power door locks?

Thanks

spray some wd40 into the lock cyl . take the panel off . I believe it just pulls free at bottom . there a screw at handle . spray all linkage. They make an aftermarket kit that has everthing including instructions ,check with a store that sells car accessories. on a difficulty scale of 1 - 10 oi would say a 3

Thanks, I will try that but its not that the door handle is not pulling...Its just that when I pull the interior door handle it feels like it is not grabbing on to something which opens the door.

Sometimes if I pull the door handle, hold it and push on the door with my shoulder it will open. Other times it won't open at all and I will have to get out of the passenger side, or have some one let me out of the driver side from the exterior handle.

Most of the handles are made of pot metal and they usually have an arm that reaches out to pull on the rod. It's pretty common for the arm to break off the handle and it will have to be replaced. You won't know until you remove the door panel and inspect to see what the problem is.

second time was a different prob ,i agree with Hammer. you may want to put some silicon spray on rubber doors seals to ease opening.
