Hello, my name is Daniel and I've recently had some trouble with my 1998 Mazda B4000. During a recent snow I turned the switch to 4wd and ended up spinning the tires and getting no where (it's not engaging). I did this repeatedly and sometimes it would engage and sometimes it wouldn't. I can't give anymore definitive evidence as towards what could be the problem, but any input helps! Thank you for your time and again I would sincerely appreciate the input. -Daniel

This truck was basically a Ford Ranger. You need to get ahold of a high-end scan tool to access the GEM and see if it is getting and sending a signal from the switch to the motor on the transfer case. A common failure is the motor in the transfer case going out which will leave you stuck in 2wd, but you would want to confirm that before throwing parts at it.
