1998 Olds 98 inner tie rod removal Sign In

Hi all, I have a 1998 Olds 98 that was stolen and wrecked breaking the inner tie rod. I cannot find a tool that will fit this tie rod. Very liomited room to work with also. Have tried a crescent wrench and pipe wrench but just don't have the room. It is sitting on jack stand. This car was my pride! Towing and repair out of question.$$$ They also t-boned a palm tree causing a small buckle in the center post between frnt and rear doors. Any ideas on tie rod. Thanx, Randy
Randy

Randy; I'm not familiar with this type of inner tie rod. Most have a hex for a special socket to use. I checked Auto Zone's website and they show one that might work. In some cases, they may rent it. Worth a check?

Yea some of those designs are pretty bad. Some are completely smooth where you almost have to use some type of pipe wrench....

One thing you can do to help a little is turn wheel all way to the opposite side that you are working on.... That will extend the inner tie rod end all the way out & give you a little more room to work with.........
