ok so i have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 its got about 120,000 miles on it and its a v8 2 wheel drive and it started to being to get harder to start the truck up like when you turned the key on it seemed like it took the truck longer to start up the normal. so wensday it worked fine truck wasnt making any strange sounds nothing. thursday moring we went to start it up and it would start. all it did was make a clicking noise sorta like when your battery dies. but the radio, lights and wipers all worked. when we jumped the truck we got it to start but then stall out. so we bought a brand new battery from auto zone and the truck started when we reved the engine up but now once you take your foot off the gas the truck stops running all togther.

Karategirl; When the battery goes dead, or is removed for any length of time, the onboard computer loses it's Keep Alive Memory (KAM). It may take several drive cycles for the computer to relearn idle stratedgies. It is more than possible that you've got other problems going on, but driving it...stop and go, freeway, stop and go, ect. may correct itself. Since the KAM has been erased, there won't be any trouble codes to look at until this is done. Make sure that the charging/starting system and all of the connections are clean and tight. (doesn't take much juice to light up the radio and accessories, but requires a bunch to crank the engine).
