Ok so I am working on a 1998 eclipse gst and the temp gauge jumps up to hot fast and it blows cold air from vents. I have replaced the tstat, rad, water pump has 10,000 miles, temp sensor, rad cap, lower rad hose, heater core was installed 1 year ago. Some one had put stop leak in the car before and I have flushed and flushed to try to get it all out. With the laser thermo temps read normal other than heater core lines. I even blew compressed air through heater core but still no heat. Also no water in oil and no oil in water, does not white smoke, and acts normal with rad cap off when running. Any sugestions.

You probably have some serious air pockets in the system. They could be getting in there from a blow head gasket or you just may not have gotten it all out when it was filled. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I am gonna check the head gasket tomorrow also every time I flush the heater core more stop leak comes out. Do you think that could have gummed it up and ruined the heater core. This is the first time I have ever dealt with the stuff.

Thats the thing though the gauge says its topped out in the red but with a laser thero the temps read normal. 180 at the tstat housing, 150 on upper hose, 70 or so on lower hose, and 130 at water pump. All of those are with me driving it around and everything. It is not losing water or anything either.

Do you think that the water pump could have messed up from the stop leak and the fans are keeping the temps down as well. Wouldnt the lack of flow mess with the temp gauge and keep it from getting heat. Thank you
