Hi guys, i have a 2000 grand prix se, 3.1 motor.i had a strut problem. I had replaced the strut bearing in the top because the coil was popping. the car was steering fine both ways before that. i took the car around the block 2 mins after doing that bearing, and now for some reason, turning the car towards the drivers side, it buckles up and gets hard. no one knows what it is. People are telling me its the rack. Im just looking for an opinion. another thing is when i jack up the side we worked on and relive the pressure, it steers easy again. Im confused. Any help would be good.

I'm not there to inspect it but everything is pointing to that strut you worked on. The problem has to be something you did when changing that. It may be missing a spacer or something like that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Ya i know, everyone is telling me the rack is bad but i dont think so. we didnt undo anything, so i don't know if alignment is off. because when we put in the strut, we had to turn the strut to get it to be strait.

No, it won't. This is not a big mystery. You didn't have a strut noise, you worked on the turn plate. Now you have a strut noise. Something is messed up in the strut plate ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

But we dont have STRUT noise. we cant turn the car to the left. we originally replaced the passenger side turn plate cause i had coil sound. i replace it and there is no noise at all. It just wont turn to the opposite side. now.

well the one on the drivers side is brand new. One thing i thought is questionable. the lower control arm on that passenger side, has some play in it a little. but the control arm on the drivers side is like frozen. their is no play in it at all.
