My friend called me up and said she was driving and next thing you know her car lost all power. When I got out there the first thing I did was try to start it. All it did was turn over not fully starting the car. My next step was to jump start it and that did not work, was still turning over but not fully starting. So after that I cleaned off the battery terminals, still nothing. So my next step was to check the spark plugs but instead of checking them she had me replace them. That still did not work. So I jumped to the fuel pump, i tried spraying with starter fluid to see if the car would start off that telling me that the fuel pump is no good, but it still would not start. so I figure the fuel pump is good. So I had her go off and buy a fuel filter, that we have yet to put on because someone told her they think it could be the timing belt. We went ahead and took a look at the timing belt but its not wore down its just loose, could that be the problem? t he windows, locks, radio, and lights all work. I think it could be a sensor but I do not know which one would keep the car from turning over, i think it is the crank sensor, Could I be right? Please help?

1st thing you have to do is see what you are missing.....fuel or spark. It sounds like spark due to fact it won't run on starting fluid but guessing can lead to trouble.

Normally you would start off with testing for spark & fuel but if you already have the timing cover off check and make sure the marks line up. I'm not sure what you mean by "loose", but no, the timing belt shouldn't be loose. So since you are already there, check that 1st, if it's jumped time, then thats your problem. If the marks line then check for spark & injector pulse.

Also if it's possible try to get the codes pulled.....

umm my friend said it was loose, I didnt think they could come loose i thought they could break and thats it. but How do you check the fuel and spark? is that when you pull the spark plug out but leave it on the spark plug wire while touching it to any medal?
