Recently had original starter go out on 2000 ford taurus 3.0 DOHC. Replaced with rebuild from auto parts store, started for 5 months then went out again. Replaced with another rebuild. Would not turn over, exchanged again from different store and same thing happened. Loosened starter from bell housing and starter spun motor. My question is why are these starters not working properly and is there a shim kit to make it work. it is shimmed out .060 in. but is still hit flywheel hard and is grinding.

In a nutshell .............................. just poorly rebuilt. Brand DOES matter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
