2000 gmc safari awd chugging badly, feels like you are driving over speed bumps, put in neutral it is fine, then back to drive fine for a while then back to chugging.

You could be having some misfiring going on. Is the check engine light on? If so, you might want to retrieve trouble codes for a starting point. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

no check engine light, changed the fuel filter, no change. We do have a pinhole leak in the rad, but i don't think this has anything to do with that.

Well if it is doing "skip to my lou", you need to figure out which cylinders are skipping. You may need to have someone put the engine under load (brake torquing) while you pull plug wires to see which cylinder(s) don't make a difference. The fancy easy way of doing this is using a high end scan tool to monitor misfire counts or watching secondary patterns with a scope. Most DIY don't have that kind of equipment, so they are forced to use the old fashion way. Most of the time, but not always, skipping under load is ignition related. Worn plug wires, weak coil, etc. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
