i was driving my 2001 sebring on th freeway and it stopped working. the engine didnt die, but the car wouldn't accelerate. the car will turn on fine, when pushing the gas you hear the engine rev, rpm goes up, but car stays still. i put it in all gears, feels the same as before, but nothing happens. i dont think hear any difference in the way the motor sounds. i checked trans fluid n oil both were ok. was driving for about 30 mins before this happened so i added a bit of trans fluid anyway, the fluid seemed a little frothy. hoping i can use this car again, could my transmission have gone out completely? 2001 chrysler sebring coupe lx with almost 161,000 mi.

Yes, it certainly could have, in fact it is quite likely. You need to make sure the axles are OK, but it sounds like the trans broke something internal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
