2002 CRV Stops Accelerating

My mom has 2002 Honda CRV with about 215,000 miles. I was driving it down the freeway at about 70mph when the car all of a sudden stopped accelerating. With a foot all the way down on the gas, the car would not accelerate at all. I did not see have any error lights go off when that happened. I coasted the car to the side of the road, turned it off, and then restarted. From there, the car seemed to work OK again. About 10 minutes later, the car decelerated again. Because the car was in a somewhat dangerous spot, we continued to drive down the freeway. Once the car decelerated to about 40 mph, the car was able to keep speed. However, as it was driving down the freeway, it seemed to stutter. I am not a car expert (not by a long shot), but it seemed to me that maybe the car was trying to go into a higher gear but was unable to. It did this over and over again until the car was parked. From there, the car was parked for about 20 minutes. Then, the car was driven back home, using the freeway for about 20 minutes (so going 70 mph) and then surface streets for another 20 (going around 40 mph). On the drive home, the stuttering or deceleration did not happen.
Since the car is an older car we just keep around in case we need an SUV, were are trying to diagnose what the problem could be. If the repair is huge (like a new transmission), the car will just get donated. However, if the problem can be fixed for a reasonable amount of money, we will likely go that route.
So, I was wondering if you have any idea on what might be the issue? Before we take it to the shop, we were hoping to get ideas of what it could be.

Have the codes read and post the numbers here. It sounds like the electronic throttle is going into safety mode.

That car may not even have an electronic throttle. Have the codes read.

Hi again, I ran the scan and got these three error codes. Any help on what they might mean would be appreciated.
P1259
P0420
P0845

The only code that may be relevant here is the P1259 which indicates an issue with the circuit for the VTEC solenoid which could throw the cam timing way off.
The first thing you need to do is check the oil level and condition because this system operates off oil pressure. It needs to be the correct viscosity, clean and full.
Beyond that you will probably need a professional to check it out.
The P0420 indicates a problem with the Catalytic Converter so make sure it is not plugged up.
The P0845 is a transmission code. Make sure your issue isn't just the transmission staying in the wrong gear.
