2004 Chevy Impala LS 58,000 Miles Very recently bought 2004 Impala in Michigan with low miles. Looking the car over and noticed rust, including on the oil pan. In the grand scheme of things, how concerned should I be with this rust? Do I need to take action? Looking to get 6+ years out of this car. Oil was changed last week by previous owner. The pan does not leak. I've added a photo: I appreciate any feedback. Thank you very much. Blake

That's bad enough I suggest get a new one I have seen some so bad dump all the oil by surprise and engine is gone as you should know. It happens just do it if otherwise vehicle is fine, Tom (W. of Boston - rust belt too)

Dangit. Was hoping that wouldn’t be the case.

Too risky - just do it. Doesn't mean whole car is junk but check anyway. Assorted makes too? The only possible way I'd risk that is if you can tap but not dent it with a hammer and nothing just bust loose right away then spray the thing with literally spray grease and oil it too on top of that you are taking a chance I don't suggest, Tom
