2004 Jeep Liberty door stuck Sign In

Hello all. The driver side rear window made a horrible noise one day and it no longer worked (it's constantly creeping down and I have to push it back up). Soon after, the door wouldn't open either. It will open about half an inch, but that's it. I read up on problems with the Liberty and it seems like the "window regulators" often break and it's possible a piece of that fell down into the locking mechanism.

I don't know much cars so I'm at a complete loss. I thought about removing the door panel, but that seems virtually impossible without being able to open the door. This is extremely frustrating so any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Your regulator came apart and will have to be replaced. The should have nothing to do with the door opening though.

I know about the regulator, but the door stopped opening right after that happened. I read someone had a broken piece of the regulator fall down into the door latch (or whatever it's called) and prevented him/her from being able to open the door. My question is how can I go about freeing the door?

Remove the door panel and look. Fix the regulator and you'll probably see your problem.

How do you remove the panel if the door doesn't open? I tried and it seemed next to impossible without damaging the panel.

its not always easy - always the unexpected..

have you tried to open from inside? from outside? I know window will not work BUT maybe operating the window switch. up or down the linkage may free up.. you said window drops - so try when down and when pulled up...

I've tried everything. Window is completely dead and the door is completely jammed. I could try brute force and maybe whatever is jamming the door breaks, but I really don't want to damage the door. Might be my only option, though.

There is no magic answer here. What we would do is try to gain enough access through the top edge to somehow get it unlocked using long screwdrivers, coathangers or other various tools.
