This is so strange, i started my 04 acura rl the other day everything was fine. I turned the car off and went to pepboys in my other car. The remote for the rl needed a battery so i bought 1. Got home changed the battery for the remote and locked the doors to see if the remote was working, it did. Later that night went to run the car it wont start. The battery and alternator are good and the starter is new. PLs help i was supposed to be buying the rl from my cousin but if it doesnt work ill give it back.

You should call your cousin. If you haven't bought the vehicle, it is your cousin's problem. Does this have any aftermarket equipment such as remote start or alarm system installed? Is the immobilizer indicator flashing when you are attempting to start the engine? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

The car identifies the key so thats not the problem. Ive spoken to a auto locksmith he said if it identified the key then its something else. I picked this car up last week and the battery was dead. It was pouring raining that night and it took 20 min for it to charge with the hood up in the rain. After it cjarged i drove it home and parked it, the rest of the story is above.

You stated the battery is good. Did you have it load or conductance tested? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Yes I did the battery is good. I just checked again and the immobilizer is not on. It just occurred to me the night I got the car it was pouring raining and we had the hood up while trying to get a jump. 1 of the relay boxes doesnt have a cover. I want to change the starter relay but i dont know which 1 it is.

Can you take a picture of the box that was left open? Take a picture with the cover removed and looking over the top at all the relays and fuses. I can circle which one the starter relay is if it is in there. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

This car has ignition switch issues. Possible free repairs, call Acura dealer with VIN number. Red immobilizer key can not be used to start the car, it's only for programming. Like other Honda products the PGM-FI relay is always suspect.
