My girlfriend's truck has recently developed a bit of a problem. I'm none to knowledgeable on vehicles so I came here. The problem is when driving forward anytime she applies the brakes no matter the speed the truck starts to vibrate and shake like heck won't have so thought it was a brake issue but weird thing is when she goes in reverse and hits the brakes they work just fine no grabbing vibrating or anything.

Does the pedal feel like it's pushing back at you? Sounds like you are getting a false activation of the ABS. That would be due to an inaccurate wheel speed sensor somewhere. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

? How fast are you going when this does this? Reverse how fast does anyone go? One other thought is a drum parking brake is jammed up, busted off parts would be directional or could be. You said you not into this so get help they are a royal PITA on a good day, trust me! T

The pedal feels normal when pressed. I know there was a ABS issue with it before that a mechanic had said they fixed.

Off the wall question: Does the ABS light even work? If you turn key to run but not running those lights should all light up. If not the problem wasn't solved IMO, T

Sorry for two post you two are faster than my service here. Tbaer: There are 6 brakes in GM trucks, 4 for driving, two for "parking brake" hidden. Those are famous to screw up and barely work new. Those do react differently forward or reverse as "drum" drum brakes usually do. Again it's not for you to even look it's old now things will just bust up making it worse it should be ruled out or AYOR see if those work, at all the risk is you bust it right then and there? T

The ABS light would not be on in this case. The sensor would just be inaccurate, not totally inoperative. If the light were to be on the system would be totally shut down and would never kick in.
