2005 Chrysler Town & Country front passenger side grinding noise
I recently, and suddenly started hearing a grinding noise on my 05 Town & Country when I press the brakes. The noise seems to be coming from the front passenger side only, and at first, it didn’t do it every time I stopped. Today, after taking a short trip to the store, the grinding became a little louder and seemed to do it even if the brake wasn’t being pressed? Is this a caliper issue, maybe?

Why are you looking for an answer on the Internet for this. You need to have the car inspected ASAP. You shouldn't even be driving this in this condition. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Because...it’s Saturday and I can’t have it inspected until Monday at the earliest. Also, cost is a factor.

Most shops are open on Saturday. If you can't afford to have it fixed, then it should be parked in the meantime. Inconvenience or lack of money is no excuse to continue to drive a car on the highway that has brake problems and may not be safe for you or other people on the road.

You about know it's a brake problem so this "cost factor" is out the window. You can do this much and I do understand no quick help for inspection would be available right now. You could do this is just look thru most wheels you get a view of outside of brake rotors just looking. Look hard if you can on this wheel type and compare it to the other should look the same. Bet it doesn't. If your best guess is one side (you only see outer friction surface that way) is that it's metal to metal on either (noises, sounds and feel can fool you which side) then the real plan should be park it hate to say. Maybe nothing shows at all. With brakes IMO that should be a routine check requested or done on a schedule to avoid surprises that could still happen, T

The reason I’m searching on the internet is because I can’t afford shop prices. I was here looking for helpful info to find a starting point in hopes that I could replace the parts myself. Instead, I get responses that I already knew. I know not to drive it in that condition, and it had been parked until the very short trip yesterday, and that was only so I could try and listen to the noise again. I came to a supposed car forum for help, and all I got was sass....from a moderator, and supposed ASE certified mechanic at that. That’s the reason I don’t like dealing with shops, they charge out the ass and you always get the smart ass. I tell you, if I wanted sass, I’d call Autozone and speak to some kid who knows half as much as you people do. Get over yourselves. It’s a car forum. If you can’t give advice, don’t bother answering.
