I have watched the you tube vids. I see I will need a "gear" type puller for the harmonic balancer. Which is the next question, will a gear puller work? let me know if you have actually used a gear puller or its just an educated guess. On the Chrysler type harmonic puller looks like there are different length rods that are inserted into the hole that the bolt threads into. The rods I suppose are what the Chrysler gear puller pushes on when it's tightened down possible to protect the threads second question, the timing belt tensioner, how is it preloaded.? its a 2.4L

You can use a 3 jaw gear puller and the right size length rod for the puller to push against to remove the balancer. Sometimes the balancer pulls right off with your hands once you remove the crank pulley bolt. You didn't state if this was a DOHC or SOHC engine. 2.4L DOHC. BTW when I put the balancer back on is it possible to clamp a pair of plyers on the flywheel or is there a better way.

Find access and use a pry bar probably better than a clamp. Other is if a standard shift can put it in gear or good air tools that tell torque would probably do without any other needs, T

Our shop fabricated an installer for Dodge balancers that uses two different sized bolts welded together and a nut with bearing to pull the balancer on. The crankshaft bolt gets tightened to 100 ft/lbs. You can use the crankshaft bolt to pull the damper onto the crank, but there is always a chance of ripping threads out of the crank snout. We also have a timing belt sprocket holder that fits into the holes of the pulley to hold the crank while tightening the bolt. Not sure if you can hold the crank using the flywheel. As for timing belt tensioner adjustment. It would be best to get hold of some service information with the proper steps to tension the belt correctly. There are quite of few steps involved when doing a timing belt job on one of those. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

that is a concern i have with any balancers using the bolt to drawl it onto the crankshaft. .BTW it's an automatic trans. you know my regular balancer installer may work for the installing part.
