2005 chevy express ven Sign In

Hello I have a 2005 chevy 2500 express van 4.8 v8 108,000 miles problem starting turn key engine doesn't crank, I can hear maybe the fuel pump, dash lights up and a slight buzzing noise , has good battery and connections try moving shift lever , have to keep turning key then finally it will turn over very erratic , any help will be greatly appreciated

Couple ideas: How old is the battery? You say it's good but if original it's old. Look at door jam for production date - battery if original is older than that.

Cable connections. They can look good but GM side posts you really need to look hard even if you need to pull back the now hard rubber as eyelets may be junk. Check other ends of battery cables too. Nothing is any better than the weakest link.

Moving shifter if you think that helps and everything checks out could be a neutral safety switch with an attitude. Can you get a helper when it acts up and see if trigger wire lights a test light at the starter? Be nice to see if it will light when it will NOT start/crank.

If yes and no decent reaction from starter give it a love tap. If that instantly works the starter could be the problem itself.

Try just plain starting it in neutral instead of park. If that makes a huge difference that neutral safety switch is probably the culprit but more testing before you blame anything just yet,
