2006 Chevy Malibu front end issues Sign In

For about a year now, front end of car seems to float. It is more noticable when starting from stop or when car hits a small bump or rut in street, and sometimes when applying breaks. The outside only of both front tires have worn completely bald, so not under/over inflation issue. Car also seems to ride rougher up front. Took car into a well-established chain for front break job first (Les Schwab). They did the rear breaks instead and said the front breaks were fine. Two months later took car into same shop thinking an alignment might help. I asked them to check the struts as well. They did the alignment and said it didn't require much, and stated that the struts were fine. No improvement.

What could the problem be? why the outside edge of both front tires wearing bald quickly? Is this shop missing it - is it a strut issue? Could it be CV joints or axle issue?
Please help, car use to be joy to drive, now not so much.
Thanks.
