2007 Pacifica shuts off in reverse Sign In

Our '07 Pacifica Limited Touring 104,000mi (4.0L All wheel drive, 6 speed automatic) shuts off completely as soon as it is put in reverse, only after its been running & engine is hot. It will go just fine when in drive every time. Previously it would stall out & shut down in drive frequently as well. My husband replaced the "down strem O2 on front manifold & ETC sensor (engine temp control)". That did seem to resolve the stalling/dying in drive issue but now it does it in reverse. If the car has been sitting & engine is cold usually it is fine. Please help.

First eliminate all vacuum or air leaks in the system (very important)

. You may have a bad IAC ( idle air control) but try cleaning the throttle body first. Remove the intake snorkel, have someone hold the throttle wide open for you and scrub the back side of the throttle plate and surrounding bore with an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner. Be sure to spray some into the small holes next to the throttle plate. That should help stabilize the idle. If it still has a problem, replace the IAC.

Scan for codes - yes even if light is off.
