2008 Mercury Mountaineer, V6, 133k miles. Rear differential has a fair amount of oil collected on the bottom of the case. Doesn't appear that anything is slinging oil around, CV boots look okay. A shop checked the oil level late last year, found not very low. One of the seals? How should this be diagnosed?

That should be pretty obvious to an experienced tech just based on where he finds the oil. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
