2011 Ford Fiesta won’t start/crank Sign In

Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble with starting my 2011 Ford Fiesta. It doesn’t crank when I turn the ignition key. The lights are still working so I’m not sure whether it’s the battery that died.

The vids didn't show for me but don't need them yet. Battery if any power would light dash lights is also "bulb checking" if not cranking.
BATTERY is top of list to check out.
Is it tight and even appear clean enough?
Good if yes - now use a jumper box and try to start it we need the yes/no crank to go anywhere. If it starts or even cranks go on and have that battery checked AND see if charging system is working.
Know how old your battery is just because you should and mark them. The fail ratio really begins to spike @ 4 years from date of manufacture (marked in code or clearly on them) it's good to be proactive if you want to keep this car and replace them before thing WILL fail - nobody does they cost a lot now,

I can see the dash light going on and off but I can't see you hand to see what you are doing when the lights go off.

Do what Tom advised and confirm the battery first.

Also try shifting it into neutral and see if it starts there.

Absolutely what Tom says and I hope that does the trick. There are a few more things to check if that doesn’t get it but it looks like you have a highly skilled few folks willing to help you so far.

Thanks everyone for the advices!

I tried to start the car today again and it actually miraculously came alive!! The crank stuttered a little in the beginning but eventually came to. Not sure if this is going to be an on-off thing, but for the time being, it seems good..

Or at least for now Unsure

Batteries for cars, vehicles can do that or connections can just have attitude with temps, humidity or stay sneaky. It gave you the warning, up to you to find out if it's a good battery and connections good proactively it gave you the WARNING.
BTW, it's not good for other electrical things if a battery fails, shorts out it can take lots more with it.

Hi guys, sadly I’m back again with no good news.

The car died again and this time we tried jump starting the car but it didn’t work. Same thing occurring even though the cables are all connected - no sign of life at all.

We could also see the battery indicator being green before we jump start the car so I’m guessing this might be either the wirings of the car batteries or the starter motor?

Can you reach the terminal with the larger gauge cable at the starter to so much as do some tests?

Hope so. If not a web fix is trouble.

This 'waterever' thing that read 'green' is just voltage where you checked, now need to watch real voltage at the other end at the starter if the same while trying to crank it. It may fall off the charts too low volts can and will also means AMPs are not getting there or used properly. Can now also be starter burned from attempts with a low AMP delivery of power gets hot oddly and wreck a good one over a failed battery or cables, both matter equally so neg cable matters just as much.

It's tricky to use a good and powerful jumper box by rights if there wasn't a battery and properly hooked up if only that and the rest was good to start or at least crank engine.

If you are playing with usually inferior jumper cables and another vehicle and get this are risking damage I suspect already too late just hope not.

Note sport: Underpowered items like electric motors will get hot inside either short or leave the motor just open, if so the "Domino" effect of taking things out has already happened!

So now do you have at least a volt/ohm meter or better a DVOM to watch where the problem is?

There also has to be assertive power to a trigger wire to starters the final connection to make it work is there (solenoid) not seen inside it. Again weak power can cause them not to even throw out starter drives.

Just the much isn't new to cranking with enough amps an electric motor is in a car or about anything that "cranks" or turns a heavy load the starter in a vehicle is the most load it will need for a short time (two-three) seconds on things this new despite maybe thinking it's old the idea is primal over 70-80 years brand of what really not the issue - just one fast surge of amps delivered,
