2017 Hyundai Tucson AWD 2.0 5400 KM Hey guys, I have a brand new Tucson AWD, purchased the vehicle in March 2017. It has been about 2-3 months I have realized there is a noise each time I accelerate with the car. The noise happens once only and is not continuous. I have tried to piece as much info I can about the issue and I have this: - the noise sounds like a light "knock" coming from the right side of the car, not quite sure if it is front or rear (dealership service has looked into rear and have not found a problem, will explain later). - when I turn on the car and put the car in drive and begin to accelerate, the noise always happens at 29-30 KM (ALWAYS that KM). - it happens regardless of direction, going straight or turning. - as mentioned this sound happens once and never again until I shut off the engine and re-start the car to drive off again (regardless of time interval of car being shut ex. I have gone to the corner store heard the noise, parked the car once getting there, stayed in the store 5 minutes, got back in the car took off and the noise happened again like always). - if I apply my brakes before 29-30 km, the noise will still happen after I get back up to 29-30 km. I have been in and out of the Hyundai dealership garage I bought the car (because of the warranty). So far they have checked the rear right end of the car and not solved the problem, they have changed: - the muffler, close valve & viscous coupling in the diff. Need any help I can get to take back to the dealer as they are out of ideas, this is getting very frustrating so I apologize for the story book but if I can get any help at all you guys are the best! Thanks, Phil

? Happens once and not again. First thing is don't try to fix it as you know it's 100% under warranty unless it is something like debris or a problem from a part you broke near impossible for some things. Couple things you can just check: With a helper open hood engine running. Open hood but set brakes and hold brakes up to blocking wheels with chalks. Now with helper watching or you the driver puts this in "D" if automatic likely and helper watches motion of engine while totally still for motion and where. Now do the same adding some power you are fighting engine against brakes - got it? If not don't try this. Now with some load helper should be to the side not in front watch and listen for the noise. I'm specifically thinking motor mounts or exhaust that moves too much if so just note that. Note that engine/trans are supposed to be rubber mounted and move some is normal will tilt the other way if doing this in reverse. Other: Look for loose plastic junk (my term) lower bumper area, shields for engine or anything low that might have been hit or bumped and broken. If found you then need to argue the point if that was before you got it or since you got it. Your papers should show exact KMs when you took possession of the car. No question they get moved around and test driven perhaps or just moved - transported could even be the reason. If nothing found you may have to leave it with dealer but mark it that you have a noise and the miles. IF not found and fixed it's a pest but keep at it with dealer till found. Just know if you mess with it and they think so they don't have to cover the problem it's theirs to fix unless they can prove you caused it IMO, T

Since this vehicle is under warranty, have they actually duplicated the concern at the dealership? Did they get an engineer involved since it has been back multiple times for the same issue? Most of us on here are independent techs will not see that vehicle in our bays for years to come. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Yes they have duplicated the noise at the dealership, the service director has been in contact with a head technician from Hyundai Canada as well to explain the issue and not even the head tech from Hyundai could explain the noise.

I certainly won't fix anything myself or do anything myself being that it is under warranty and I know how they work with their warranties, they are ready to void them as much they can. But I will definitely take a look at your suggestions.
