4Runner Traction Control Problems

Hello! I am having some trouble with my 2002 4Runner. It has 117,000 miles on it, had its rack a pinion replaced a year ago and got new tires 2 1/2 years ago. When I am driving the traction control light comes on when I am curving around. This usually happens at on and off ramps to the highways. It beeps at me for a few seconds and eventually goes off. I have taken it to be worked on several times and they have yet to find anything wrong with it. I have been driving the same car on the same road for over 4 years and it never did this before so I don't know what changed. I am a female college student and it's hard to explain to my dad what is happening when I am driving and of course when he or the mechanic drive it, they find no problem because it only happens every now and then. I finally accepted that they wouldn't be able to find the problem and "agreed" with them the roads must just have sand on them. Yesterday, I drove home, which is two hours away, going 75mph and noticed my bag in the passengers seat shaking, the car also felt very shaky itself. When getting off the highway the traction control came on when I was going 50mph (which is suggested for the curve). I tried to slow down to see if the alarm would go off. Instead, I felt my car slip twice like I was driving on ice, and almost hit the wall. A few months ago a car backed into me, but did not leave a note, so I have no idea how hard they actually hit my car. It looked only like cosmetic damage, but I am now wondering if they bent my axle, or did something else that could cause this. Please help me! I don't know how to explain this to my dad to where he can relay it to the mechanic without everyone getting confused! Thanks so much for your help!
