91 S-10 blazer speed-o Sign In

The speedometer in my Brother inlaws 91 S-10 works intermitenly.
Works some days and some days it don't.
It's not the electronic rally dash, just the standard one.
I'm not sure if it has a cable or a speed sensor ( i guess that's my biggest question)?
What do you guys think it could be?

Thanks

I belive 91 s10 has speed sensor. You need a hand held scope to test it.

So do you think this is his problem?
What else could it be if not?

Thanks

use the scope on the input signal for the speedo.. When you speed up should be steady increase if it suddenly drops you know the sensor is bad.

One small thing.
I ain't got one! hahaLaugh
No other tests i can do to it?
It'd be cheaper just to get one or two at the junk yard for a few bucks I guess.

His ABS light is on also I'm not sure, do you think it's on because of the speed-o problem?
It had the Speed-o problem before the ABS light was one he says, but he's real good at putting gas in it and that's about it lol.

I sapose you could use a analog meter and get somone to drive while somone watches the needle.. not as accurate as scope.. might try that.

Ok cool, This was the cheapest one i could find.

My birthday is in july so maybe I'll leave some hints! lol
I'm 100% sure I get one one way or another.Cool
But as for rite now I'll do a flash for the ABS light and see what that says, and just have him buy the speed sensor from the junk yard to try first, and if that don't work I'll just wait for my scope.

Thanks again very much for your help!
