92 Mazda mx3 starting problem Sign In

This car ran good when i first got it. im not sure when the problem occured or how but now if i let it sit without starting it for more than an hour it wont start again for 24 hours its been to several people and is at a shop right now and has been for a month i dont want to spend any more money on this car things i know have been done to the car are new spark plug wires new distibutor cap igniton has been checked new spark plugs

When this happens....there are a couple of things you can check yourself...a sparkplug firing/ listening for the fuelpump coming on/ and having a diagnostic check on the computer.

used to have what we called a "hot soak" problem with the older mazdas. injectors leaking down after car ran for awhile. would not restart if left alone for a short time and wouldn't start for several hours. injectors leaking badly flood the engine and plugs won't fire. to test have a fuel pressure gage put on the car and check for "rest pressure" also called a leak down test. some pressure should remain for a specified length of time after engine is shut down. other than the electrical system this is the only thing i know of. this should be done at a shop with the proper tools and equipment.
