This is trouble so get at this now! If you have a gauge for oil pressure see what it reads as well as the temp gauge. Is the temp so hot it's boiling? Oil pressure so low you hear knocking? - That's real bad!

Don't allow engine to run with excessive low oil pressure or excessive heat. This may just be overheating and oil thins way too much to maintain oil pressure. If that's the case oil light or gauge may be within normal range when engine is cold. If so you might be able to save this engine by fixing the overheating problem.

Most likely is the cooling fan is inoperative and or radiator is blocked from inside or out beyond where it can do its job.

If this behaves when cold and behaves when warmed up and driving theres a good chance to fix this up for some more life at reasonable expense.

This is engine killing trouble and we need to know how early this is and the observed extremes of the reading now and again don't drive this car with these problems as it will be almost certain to fail and you won't be driving it anyway if this continues.

Hit back, cross fingers, perhaps it can be saved,

T
