'93 Olds Cutlass Ciera S. 145,000 miles, automatic, 3.3 V6. Vehicle starts normally, runs well on short drive. After 70 mile drive, vehicle begins bogging down and losing power. Stalls sometimes... others I'm able to keep it running by revving engine in neutral. Have to finess the pedal. The more I try to accelerate the faster the engine boggs down. After a short cool down I can drive back the same 70 interstate miles but engine begins acting up upon exiting to local roads. Any help would be appreciated. Fuel injectors? Catalytic Converter, Fuel Pump? any other ideas. Thanks PS - I replaced ignition module 4K ago. Vehicle has 4pt. platinum plugs and new wires (4K ago) Also replace crankase position sensor 15k ago due to help at this website. PSS - If I add fuel additive it seems to temporarily 'fix' the problem. I haven't brought vehicle in to auto store for code check as of yet.

This does sound fuel related; possibly a weak fuel pump, along with a partially plugged fuel filter? Try replacing the fuel filter and have the fuel pump pressure tested. The only thing about having the pressure tested is that it may test fine in the shop; because you said after a 70 mile road trip is when the car acts up? The pressure test gauge may need to go for a ride with you; to confirm whether it is the pump or not? Same goes for the converter; it might be partially plugged that it isn’t giving you any noticeable issues unit it gets good & hot on the highway? An exhaust back pressure or an engine vacuum test might tell you something? Dan. Canadian "EH"
