94 Cadillac Turns Over but wont start Sign In

Im trying to help my grandfarther sell his cadillac its a 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham 5.7L 170k Miles. Its been sitting up at least a year. It wasn't nothing wrong with it when he parked it he just bought a new car and parked this one. so now were having a hard time starting it. We've replaced the Fuel Pump Relay and Fuel Filter and it still wont start. The car will crank and run if you spray starter fluid in the intake. If you do that it will crank right up on the first turn and will run until the starter fluid runs out and once it runs out it just turns over. We thinking it might be the fuel pump but i was wondering if there are other things we can diagnosis before we go dropping the tank. any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks

You may have a bad fuel pump but you need to verify power and ground arriving at it first while monitoring a fuel pressure gauge.

Use a test light at the tank with a helper to operate the key.

there is some wires that coming from the top of the tank. the wires from the tank has a male plug type thing on it and the other has a female type plug on it. I unplugged and I was wondering if I took a test light and stuck it in the female plug will that tell me if im getting power or not?? I can't tell if the wires are actually coming from the pump itself unless I drop the tank but it looks like tey are

leave connector connected and hook test light to a good ground......i run a jumper from negative battery terminal then touch test light to positive battery terminal to test and light should light.....now pierce the gray wire or unplug connector and touch the terminal where the gray wire goes and turn key to on position the test light should light for 2 seconds and then go out the have soneone crank engine and test light should light while cranking.

Thanks for all the help guys I know alot of people don't get back on here and say if your suggestions is what fixed the problem so I thought I would. It turned out to be the fuel pump, I took the test light and touch one of the wires I forgot which one and it lit up I went and bought a new pump spent all day puttin it in and just cranked it for the first time about 15 mins ago and it started and ran on the 2nd attempt. I sit there and let it run for about 10 mins so everything seems to be fine. Thanks again.
