94 Mitsubishi Expo acceleration problem Sign In

120k miles, 1.8L
I bought this car used, so I'm not quite sure what happened leading up to this problem.
It is an automatic transmission, and a few people have told me that maybe it's just like this because it's a 4 cylinder.
Anyway, when I begin to accelerate (drive or reverse, makes no difference) the engine revs up and sounds like it should be putting a lot of power into moving, but it crawls up to 30mph or so after 5 seconds of flooring it, then seems to finally catch on, get moving and run normally. Also, the sounds from the tailpipe make me wonder if it's an exhaust problem. It sounds like one of those tailpipes people put on to make their cars sound loud and zippy, but it's just the standard pipe.
Is it obvious that this is my first car, and I'm totally clueless? :P
I've been told it could be anything from issues with the fuel pump, the tranny, the exhaust...
My sister is going to help me put in some fuel injector cleaner today and I'll report back if that changes anything.
Thank you for any help in advance, and I'll try to give as much info as possible if more is needed.
