1994 Geo Prizm 1.6 L 194,000 The car is shaking when I am accelerating. It is worse when I'm turning to the right. It's the worst around second to third gear and it goes away as soon as I let off. The faster I go the better it gets. I just got done putting struts on the car. It still shake when I am going straight as well.

Could be a bad tire, could be a bad C/V joint. Somebody needs to examine it to find out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

The outer will make a clicking noise but the inner will bind and cause a steering vibration on acceleration without noise.

I took the wheel off tonight and looked at the inner CV joint and it looks like there is some grease around it. I think that means it's bad?? If I were to replace it myself what's the hardest part? Thank you for responding by the way.

You wouldn't be replacing just the joint. You would be replacing the whole halfshaft. It's not difficult for someone that has done it before but you could run into trouble if the shaft is stuck in the knuckle and they can be very difficult to release from the trans side. You need a very large prybar that you can get between the joint housing and the trans housing and use a very hard and quick snapping motion to get it to release from the trans. You also may need some tools to separate the lower ball joint. Getting the axle nut off may not be too easy and it has to be retorqued to around 250ft lbs.

Sounds good. I ordered a half shaft we shall see. Since it did it when it was turning right you think it is the driver side one?
