95 Ranger, 2.3, Five speed. 143,000 miles 2WD, no power steering. I just bought it and it is harder to turn to the right than to the left. The right tire was warn on the outside, I replaced that tire, Greased 4 certs, The tire and grease might have helped some. This armstrong steering is tough on an old guy. Thanks for any ideas. Don

Have you had the alignment checked to see if anything is bent? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Don - did you mean the vehicle doesn't have power steering at all? I didn't think they make them without? Do alignment. tire pressure as per suggested pressure AND if this is a parking thing try to only steer while vehicle is moving some or tires just scrub and naturally harder to steer, T

Correct, No power steering. I do keep it moving to steer easier. I also corrected the alignment and that helped. Thanks..

Has it ever been in an accident on the front end? Steering column might be bent.

Still wondering if PS was an opt out option on this but might have been. Way back vehicles w/o were geared down, took more turns for the same amount of turn and the steering wheel was larger in diameter - more leverage. Broken PS would steer like crap and very annoyingly difficult, T

I just bought this as my run around truck. Do not know the history... I did buy a new S10 in 1989, without P/S.. Cheep truck. It stayed in the family until 2003. They keep running if taken care of..

I'm at a loss as to what you could do. New tires may help some. If no air bag in steering wheel just maybe a larger wheel? Finding a recent wreck that didn't mess up the front and swap over everything necessary to add PS now which could mean all new brackets for other belt driven items or whole different locations meaning wiring changes. I can't think of a way to change the gear ratio at steering box at all so I'm stuck with what to suggest, T
